Utilities/Wooster City Services

As one of the basic functions of government, the design, implementation, and maintenance of critical public utilities should remain a City priority. Traditionally, the City and the community has placed a high priority on the maintenance and development of the City’s utilities. Wooster City Services is responsible for processing monthly utility bills for Water Service, Sewer Service, Trash Service, and Storm Sewer Service. We are the office you would call if you have any questions on your billing or about rates or rules and regulations.

Trash Collection Schedule

The City of Wooster serves the community with weekly residential waste and recycling pick-up. In recent years, the City has contracted with Waste Management to provide this essential service, dramatically lowering rates ($13.00 a month per household, versus up to $30.00 for individually contracted services in our region). Households are required to use designated waste and recycling carts (this enhances safety and sanitation while keeping costs low). Waste pick-up is unlimited - any extra bags or materials that do not fit inside of the carts should be placed alongside the cart on the scheduled pick-up day.

Carts should be taken to the curbside no later than 6:00am the day of pick-up, and should be brought back from the curbside within 24 hours after pick-up.  Waste Management runs collections on Wednesday and Thursdays (To see our map showing Wednesday and Thursday streets, please click here. For the actual list of streets by day click here.) Please note, when a major holiday falls before or on a scheduled collection day, Waste Management technicians will service the street the following day.

Learn more about the City of Wooster's waste and recycling services at Waste Management.

Additionally, because of the dangers they pose, it is illegal to dispose of batteries, tires, and certain chemicals into the residential waste collection stream. To learn more about locations that will accept hazardous materials, please visit the Stark-Tuscarawas-Wayne Joint Solid Waste District at https://www.timetorecycle.org/ and check out the "What Do I Do With..." feature on the main page.

For questions on billing or to request an additional cart, please contact Wooster City Services. Thank you for keeping Wooster safe and clean!
