The City pays for each light fixture whether it is operating or not, so having each light illuminate helps keep our residence safe.
The City of Wooster contracts with AEP to service and maintain the street lights on all of the roadways throughout the City with the exception of the decorative downtown lights on Beall, Liberty and Market streets which the City maintains.

- Reducing risks of night time accidents
- Assisting in the protection of property
- Discouraging crime and vandalism
- Making residents feel secure; and
- Enhancing the appearance of the area after dark
