Wooster’s Celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary

Wooster is proudly celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary with a series of community events during Independence Day weekend 2026.

Festivities will continue with the America 250 July 3 concert, presented by Main Street Wooster. The Bayou Blue Tribute Band Concert will be held at the downtown pavilion from 6 to 8 p.m., with a military flyover during the concert.

Saturday, July 4, kicks off with the weekly Farmers’ Market on the square from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. with live music!

Everyone is invited to Kinney Fields for food, fun, and family entertainment beginning at 5 p.m. Food trucks, a bounce house and slide, a classic rock band, SB Music, and a DJ will be on hand. At 6 p.m., the Wooster City Fire Department Ladder Truck and Wooster City Police Cruiser will be on display, and Life Flight Helicopter will land at Kinney Fields at 7 p.m.

From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Ohio Light Opera Pops Concert will be presented by Main Street Wooster and The Ohio Light Opera. The concert will be held at the downtown pavilion, offering families a perfect opportunity to celebrate Independence Day before enjoying the evening fireworks display at Kinney Fields.

A spectacular fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m. The display is sponsored by the Wooster Fireworks Foundation in cooperation with the City of Wooster. Northeast Ohio Pyrotechnics Group will present the fireworks, made possible by donations from the City of Wooster, Wooster Rotary, Wooster Exchange Club, and the public.

The celebration will continue on Sunday, July 5, with a Community Picnic presented by the City of Wooster and hosted by Wooster Rotary. Festivities will begin at 1. p.m. on the downtown square with a short program that includes a public reading of the Declaration of Independence by local elected officials, including Wayne County Mayors and County Commissioners.

A variety of food trucks will be available from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and live music by the Wayne County Community Band will follow the brief program. Activities for children will also be available throughout the afternoon. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy an afternoon of community celebration.

As part of the America 250 celebration, the City’s Department of Public Properties Maintenance has also set a goal to plant 250 trees throughout the city in 2026, helping to leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
