ACBC Summer & Winter Camps

Several members of the Wooster firefighters local 764 participated at the Aluminum Cans for Burned Children summer and winter camps. These are the two camps held each year. These children all have one thing in common, at some point in their life they have been burnt. These camps provide them with an atmosphere of support and care. Throughout the years of Wooster’s attendance we have seen these children grow. They grow both in size but most importantly in confidence.

The camps are held in February and August each year and last 3 days each. They are each held at Camp Cheerful in Strongsville. There are 25-35 kids that attend these camps. We traditionally cook breakfast for the children and counselors. We also help in many different activities from horseback riding to skiing and anything in between.

We were able to collect over 2,000 lbs. of cans in the first year of the collection bin. Thanks to the generous donations of cans in the collection bin we were able to raise over $1,000 since its inception last year. That amount of money covers 3 campers for one camp. This has been a great first year in donations. Thank you to all of the citizens of Wooster and surrounding areas for their generous contributions.
