City of Wooster Electric and Gas Aggregation
City of Wooster Electric and Natural Gas Aggregation
In November 2023, Wooster voters approved the City’s participation in electric and natural gas aggregation. In January 2024, City Council adopted resolutions approving the required plans of operation and governance for both programs. These actions allow the City to combine the electric and natural gas usage of participating residents and small businesses to seek more competitive generation rates in Ohio’s deregulated energy markets.
Participation in aggregation is completely voluntary. The programs are offered as an option to help residents and small businesses potentially save money on the generation portion of their utility bills, while maintaining the same utility service and infrastructure.
The City participates through the Ohio Municipal League (OML) Energy Program and is advised by Palmer Energy Company, a Toledo-based energy consultant that has served the OML since 2017 and has provided energy consulting services since the 1990s. Updated savings information is provided for transparency and comparison.
