City of Wooster - Wayne County Ohio : Water Production Plant
Utilities Division The City of Wooster utilities division extends a commitment to excellence in public service through the proper treatment, protection, and preservation of the cities water resources.
Water Production Plant
The new water plant, located at 1020 Columbus Road was completed and in full
production in late 1998. All components inside the new plant are under one roof
and the design enables the plant to be easily expanded. The plant has two
clarifiers and recarbonation basins that allow this plant to produce 6.1 million
gallons of water per day. There are cluster filters (1 filter with 4 cells) and
two stripper towers that handle any possible contamination from volatile organic
chemicals. When it comes to waste, all the sludge that is produced by the lime
softening process is pumped over to the Wastewater Control Plant. After the
water has been softened and chlorinated, it is stored in two 750,000 gallon
clearwells until it is then pumped into the distribution system and out to our
customers.
