Welcome to our community… Wooster, Ohio. In November of 2006 Wooster was named by Ohio Magazine as one of Ohio’s 5 “Best Hometowns”.

Founded in 1808 Wooster will celebrate its bicentennial in 2008. Plans are well underway to provide many events to highlight our history as we look to our future.

Wooster is a city of balance. Located close enough to larger cities for their amenities we are also far enough away to maintain our own identity as a terrific place to live and raise a family. While we have new areas of active business development they are balanced by a revitalized downtown business district with its improved streetscape and new Wayne County Public Library.

Wooster is home to numerous companies ranging from the local entrepreneurial to the international in scope. We are friendly to business and welcome planned growth.

Educational and cultural opportunities abound. Wooster is home to The College of Wooster and The Ohio State University’s Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) and Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI). The Wayne Center for the Arts and the Wooster Symphony Orchestra are two of many arts organizations.

Residents can avail themselves of fine medical care ranging from the city-owned and operated Wooster Community Hospital to a branch of the world-class Cleveland Clinic. There are also many other independent and affiliated medical groups. The Wooster Fire Department provides excellent EMS service.

Wooster is home to a thriving park system with generous citizens donating additional land. The latest of these will be a gift for a 100 acre park given by the Noble Foundation which will feature hiking and biking trails in a “forest for all seasons” setting.

You will find the City of Wooster’s public employees, elected officials and boards and commissions to be responsive and progressive in cooperating to make Wooster the best it can be.
